Porsche 911 Targa: Storming performance

Nice review here of the Porsche 911 Targa, a car which you either love or hate.
We tested the car on Alpine roads and the numerous hairpin bends helped to perfectly demonstrate the effectiveness of Porsche's new traction control system.

The Targa has been four-wheel-drive only since 2006, but the upgraded traction control unit means this latest car is much better to drive. It's now quicker-witted: 100% of drive can be shuffled to either axle rather than just 40% on the old system.

There's 341bhp available on the standard 3.6-litre flat-six, which is plenty, and that dollop of power means you'll experience huge amounts of oversteer if you get on the accelerator too early when exiting a bend. Here, the traction control gets to work, shuffling all available torque to the front wheels to pull the car out of the slide, making for an effective and fast way to exit a bend.
